1. Your Overstayed identity
Your email signs you in, secures and recovers your account, verifies invitations, and connects you to events. It is never part of your public profile. Choose a public display name; identical display names are allowed because your private account ID and public code distinguish you behind the scenes.
2. Keep it pseudonymous
Avoid legal names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, license plates, identifying documents, and school information. Overstayed is pseudonymous, not a promise of absolute anonymity. The joke works without publishing somebody’s private information.
3. Pictures without accidental witnesses
Cartoons, avatars, pets, food, scenery, decorations, objects, and photos without identifiable faces are excellent choices. Do not upload photos that identify minors. Crop or obscure identifying details and confirm the safety warning when uploading.
4. Public and private events
Private events require appropriate access and are not publicly discoverable. Public events may have shareable pages, but public never means participant emails, legal names, invitation chains, phone numbers, precise residential addresses, or authentication details become public.
5. Invitations and QR codes
Event participants can be invited by email, link, or QR. Event invitations do not consume personal invitation credits. Managers can resend, copy, revoke unused invitations, and view honest delivery states. Revoking a token also invalidates its link and invitation QR.
6. RSVP is not attendance
Going, Maybe, and Not Going record someone’s plan. Attended and Did Not Attend record what actually happened. Planning to attend is not evidence that somebody survived the pool party.
7. Calendar and sharing
Supported events include a privacy-aware calendar file, native sharing, a smart event URL, and an event QR. An event QR opens the event flow; an invitation QR represents a specific authorization. They are deliberately different.
8. Reviews and ratings
Review the event, hosts, guests, food, drinks, pets, accommodations, transportation, weather, coffee, pool, bathroom, hospitality, or another write-in subject from −5 through +5 in quarter-star increments.
9. Named and anonymous reviews
Reviews begin anonymous. You may deliberately attach your Overstayed profile or change your own attribution later. Anonymous hides your public identity, but Overstayed retains internal authorship for security, moderation, abuse prevention, and enforcement. Anonymous opinion is aggregated separately from profile-attributed ratings.
10. Birth year and generation
We request a birth year, not a full birth date, to establish adult eligibility and derive an optional broad generation badge. Exact birth year stays private. Generation visibility is your choice.
11. When something goes wrong
Use Report for content, profiles, reviews, events, privacy violations, or behavior. Use Contact for account, invitation, or technical problems. Include enough information to locate the issue, but never send a password.
